Painted Pigeons and Lady's Tresses collection of 8 embroidered patches for Morecambe: the Arnside tidal bore | a plea to local people, particularly dog owners to try not to disturb the vast numbers of birds - waders through to common gulls - with roosts on the beach | the local beach clean campaign, Love My Beach | Wakes Week (when factories would shut in the summer for holidays, with workers coming from northern cities to the coast | Painted Pigeons - 1930s Winter Gardens act | the rare orchid ‘Autumn Lady’s Tresses’ | Betty Jackson with her monkeys and dogs, a 1930s Winter Gardens performer.

A social exchange & making project commissioned by Deco Publique for Vintage by the Sea 2019 | 
8 aspects of Morecambe Bay’s rich social & natural history inspired each of the designs of the 8 collectable embroidered patches.

 Visitors to the festival could exchange their memories of Morecambe, written on the back of a bespoke designed postcard, for a patch, & make their own badges, using elements of the patch designs.
Morecambe Bay has several Sites of Special Scientific Interest &a rich history as a resort for northern workers before its decline in the late 20th century.
